CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System
The CyberKnife® System at Memorial Cancer Institute is a revolutionary cancer treatment that quickly and effectively treats tumors anywhere in the body — even those considered inoperable tumors. The world’s only robotic radiosurgery system, CyberKnife® System treats tumors with sub-millimeter accuracy. The CyberKnife® System uses image-guidance technology and computer-controlled robotics to continuously track your tumor and correct for movement in real time throughout your procedure.
Memorial Cancer Institute’s radiation oncologists have some of the most extensive CyberKnife® System training and experience in South Florida, with some of the highest CyberKnife® System treatment volumes in the area.
Lung Optimized Treatment (LOT)
Lung Optimized Treatment (LOT) is an enhancement to the CyberKnife® System that offers a powerful, non-invasive approach to lung cancer treatment. This leading-edge technology enables physicians to treat lung cancer tumors without surgically implanting fiducial markers in a patient to track the tumor and deliver targeted radiation therapy. Through advanced imaging and simulation technology, comparison work flows and unique tracking modes, LOT provides physicians with even greater flexibility and precision when delivering radiosurgery treatment to lung cancer patients—all without a single incision.
LOT also enhances and improves the quality of radiation oncologist’s treatment plans since this advanced technology enables our team to see tumors in hard-to-reach places such as behind the spine or near critical structures like the chest wall.
