Phyllis Neimark, MD, FACS
Medical Director, Division of Breast Surgical Oncology
Dr. Neimark is Medical Director of the Division of Breast Surgical Oncology at Memorial Cancer Institute. She is highly respected in her field with more than 20 years of clinical experience. Dr. Neimark completed her breast surgical oncology fellowship training at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
In addition to her practice, she was also a member of the teaching faculty at Baylor until relocating to South Florida. In South Florida, Dr. Neimark established the breast cancer program at Cleveland Clinic Florida. In 2000, she joined the medical staff at Memorial Healthcare System.
Through the years, Dr. Neimark served in many capacities for the American Cancer Society. She was a Florida Division director, Broward County Unit President, and Chairman of the Broward County Breast Cancer Taskforce. For her efforts, she was a recipient of the Florida Medical Volunteer of the Year award. Ihor Pidhorecky, MD
Medical Director, Surgical Oncology Services
Dr. Ihor Pidhorecky is a board-certified oncological and general surgeon. Born and raised in New York City, he attended New York University and completed his medical training at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He then completed a two-year fellowship in surgical oncology at the renowned Roswell Park Cancer Institute, where he was active in research in melanoma, breast cancer, colon cancer and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Since 2000, Dr. Pidhorecky has been a valued member of the medical staff, serving as Chief of Surgery from 2005 to 2011, and currently serving as Secretary-Treasurer, Memorial Hospital West and as Medical Director of Surgical Oncology Services.
His primary focus is complex surgical oncology cases, to which he brings expertise in esophageal, pancreaticobiliary, hepatic, gastric, colorectal, melanoma/soft tissue, breast and endocrine tumors.
Mindy Williams, MD
Breast Surgical Oncologist
Dr. Williams earned her Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and a Master of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She earned her medical degree and completed her residency in general surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She joined Memorial Cancer Institute after completing her breast oncology fellowship at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Williams is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She is the Cancer Liaison Physician for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.Meet Dr. Williams
Alejandra Perez, MD
Director, Breast Cancer Centers
Dr. Perez acquired her medical degree at the Health Science Institute in Colombia, graduating among the top 10 in her class. She completed her training in internal medicine at Danbury Hospital, an affiliate of Yale University School of Medicine. After completing her residency, she was appointed as Chief Resident in the ambulatory care setting. She also completed her hematology and oncology fellowship training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Perez is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology. She is Director of the Breast Cancer Centers at Memorial Cancer Institute where she is primary investigator on numerous clinical trials addressing the prevention and treatment of breast cancer. Her philosophy of care is to treat the individual, completely, including body, mind and spirit with focus on expert disease management whether intent is toward cure, surveillance or control of the breast cancer.Meet Dr. Perez
Carmen Calfa, MD
Dr. Calfa is board certified in hematology/oncology and internal medicine. She was born and raised in Romania and received a medical degree at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Targu-Mures, Romania, graduating among the top 10 in her class. Upon graduation, she joined the university as a clinical Instructor in epidemiology and public health. During this time, she entered residency in hematology, immunology and biochemistry and became nationally board certified in January 2000. She went on to complete her internal medicine training at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2004 and continued as a research fellow, working in the development of new targeted therapies for breast cancer. Dr. Calfa completed her hematology/oncology training in 2008, graduating from the University of Miami. Aruna Mani, MD
Dr. Mani graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2 years from the University of Akron with a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, and received her M.D. from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. She did her residency in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. She then did her Medical Oncology Fellowship and NIH-funded T32 Research Fellowship at James Cancer Hospital of Ohio State University. Dr. Mani is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. She is published in Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, The Journal of Clinical Oncology, Community Oncology, Journal of Immunology and the International Journal of Hematology.
